WHAT IS MAGIC HERB?
The herb is also known as Indian ginseng or winter cherry. The name “ashwagandha” describes the smell of its root, meaning “like a horse.” By definition, ashwa means horse. Practitioners use this herb as a general tonic to boost energy and reduce stress and anxiety.
Ashwagandha’s great use for anxiety & depression
Ashwagandha may have anxiolytic (panic-relieving) properties similar to those of a drug called lorazepam. According to a study done in animals, both ashwagandha and lorazepam can help reduce anxiety in animal models. Ashwagandha may also have antidepressant properties. This suggests that ashwagandha may help reduce depression and anxiety.1 However, more research is still needed in this direction. Depression and anxiety are conditions that may require serious attention and medical help from a doctor should be sought for this.
Great Uses of Ashwagandha for Arthritis:
Ashwagandha may have great properties for treating arthritis which are widely accepted and reported. Ashwagandha may help relieve pain by calming the nervous system. In a pilot study, patients were given a formula containing Ashwagandha. In this study, it was found that this herbal formulation could reduce the severity of pain and disability.
